Twin Diamonds
In the 1960s, Cambodian films were very popular. Many films were being screened countrywide that the world has regarded it as golden age of Cambodia’s cinema. During the Pol Pot regime, everything was absolutely demolished including film sector. After this dark age, Cambodia’s films sectors has started to come back slowly. However, Film production is still weak in the recent years as there is not any school to educate in film production, flowing of high-quality foreign films from US, Korea, China… Though, we can see a remarkable progress of film sector this year. Two movies titled Who am I? and Vanished have been considered as good and high-quality movies. Moreover, Many Cambodia’s soap operas have been shot and played on local televisions and they are very popular among Cambodian people living in the country and oversea. This is a sign of development in film production and returning of golden age. In addition to what I am talking, I have a good news for everyone who is interested in watching Cambodian films and in supporting the growth of film production. A movie called ” Twin Diamonds ” is going to be on screen again on 3rd October at LUX theater after its first screening at CCF ( French cultural center). This movie was directed by French-Cambodian director. Davy Chou. Twin Diamonds was totally written, shot, and stared by Cambodian students from RUPP’s department for media and communication, Limkokwing university, Reyum Art School, the Royal University of Fine Arts, Lycée Français René Descartes, Mith Samlanh. All of the young stars, producers , and director has grouped them self as a production called KON KHMER KOUN KHMER. This is information from a website (ttp://www.blueladyblog.com) about the film:
“This story mainly stars twin sisters whose dramatic adventure is full of suspension, danger, courage and mysteries and who finally scramble to their feet to find the root of their past. How two different worlds of these two sisters will at last meet is the question of which you need to find the answer in the film.”
